Medical Thigh Lift

Medical terminology to describe the inner thigh or where your thighs touch is called “Medial Thigh”. The medial thigh is the surgical process to remove excess fat from your inner thighs and give it a tighter and sleeker look. People are going for this surgery more nowadays to stay in shape and avoid extra fat near the thighs. Usually, people who are obese get medial thigh lift to get rid of the stubborn fat. The bulging medial thigh can cause difficulty in walking and jogging as both sides would rub against each other.

People who lose a large amount of fat after bariatric surgeries tend to have saggy skin throughout their bodies. The inner thigh is one such area where the fat becomes annoying and is hard to lose.

A medial thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. Now there are two parts of this surgery which is performed under the same surgical setting. In the first part,

A buttock lift is typically done in combination with other body contouring procedures. One might consider a buttock lift if :

  • Inner thigh liposuction is performed by placing a small 4-5mm incision in just below the crease line in the upper part of the inner thigh.
  • Through this incision, tumescent fluid is injected to reduce the pain and maximize fat reduction as tumescent fluid is a combination of medicines.
  • Then, a cannula (medical grade tube) is inserted and connected to a suction and thigh fat is reduced through suction which is called thigh liposuction.
  • In the second part, the incision has been given access to the underlying thigh fat and further dissection is performed to remove the remaining inner thigh fat.
  • Then finally, the incision is closed or kept and the patient is monitored for 2 or more days.

It is very important to rest for at least 2 or more weeks after the medial thigh lift procedure. Short distance walking is allowed and encouraged. However, healing tissues shouldn’t be subjected to stress, exercise, or any pressure. Also, several small tubes or drainage tubes are placed during the thigh elevation surgery to drain fluid from the surgical site. So, painkillers are prescribed and dressing should be done over the incision. After 4-6 weeks, you can get back to normal activities and resume your life.
